No, and it is predictable that this couldn't have helped.

The unsubscribe and subscribe events would come in at the END of the
event queue, and would only get processed once the preceding 350K
events had been handled.  As the node wasn't getting started on that
queue of outstanding events, it could never get to the
unsubscribe/resubscribe.
