Hello everyone,
I'm currently setting up some servers for testing purposes with
Postgresql and Slony. My original setup was Postgres 8.3.8 and Slony
1.2.16 and it worked fine, however I need to begin migrating things over
to Postgres 8.4. Upgrading to Postgres 8.4.1 prompted several types of
errors with the different Slony versions:
Slony 1.2.16 did not work
Slony 1.2.17-rc workded but gave me the error:
Possible unsupported PostgreSQL version (80401) 8.4, defaulting to 8.1
support
Slony 2.0.2-rc gave me this error
Possible unsupported PostgreSQL version (80401) 8.4, defaulting to 8.3
support
My question is, what is the current status of Slony and Postgres 8.4.x
support? Supported but not stable? Stable and I'm just using the wrong
version? Or not recommended at this time? My own tests showed that Slony
1.2.17-rc worked, however getting errors is not ideal at all. I'd hate
to run into some major problems down the road if I stick with that
installation.
I'm going to try out Slony 2.0.3RC and see how it looks, but using an RC
makes me a bit uneasy.
Thanks,
Brian F.
