We are looking to migrate our database from PostgreSQL 8.1 on Description: Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS Release: 6.06 Codename: dapper However, there does not appear to be any deb packages for Slony on that Ubuntu release, and we are prohibited from doing a source compile due to company policy. Does anyone have an alternative solution for installing Slony on Ubuntu 6.06.2 LTS ?
I doubt any packages exist for Dapper. However, they do exist for later versions of Ubuntu. I think your options are: - Upgrade Ubuntu to 8.04 LTS (Hardy). This will get you Slony-I 1.2.13 and happens to be what I'm currently using. - Get a package built for 6.02 LTS (Dapper), possibly using a Launchpad PPA to help with this. The existing packages might help, and may even build unmodified. I expect some work will be needed though - Canonical Support or the Debian maintainer (Peter Eisentraut) might be able to help for a fee if you are unable or unwilling to do it in house. -- Stuart Bishop <[email protected]> http://www.stuartbishop.net/
