I think you are referring to http://lists.slony.info/pipermail/slony1-general/2011-January/011477.html but I still don't have a good grasp on the behavior being observed. The patch merged in from 2.1 dealt with cases where the remoteListener losses it's connection with a remote postgres and isn't able to properly recover from it. Restarting slon would fix the issue.
