Indeed, I have a dim memory of early discussion in Slony development of trying to figure out how to force two sets to work in parallel, for the case where you had tables that couldn't possibly have an interdependency. We concluded that it was a foot-bazooka and that it'd be too much work to try to make this safe and fast. So we gave up.
