If any one of those HDDs go, we lose EVERYTHING.

Try to use RAID-5 if possible.  We need some redundancy.  RAID-4 gives us
a limited performance advantage. 

I guess that leaves us with a "super < 50GB linux server", but with
greater reliability.

And get the IBM drives.  Fireballs tend to overheat and fizzle out.
