I believe he meant that Zoc is the terminal software he is using in
place of windows telnet (which incidentally is a nasty broken POS).
I'd still disable telnet access, instead preferring to install SSH2 on
the box for remote access. This can be called by tcpwrappers, so
hosts.allow and .deny are sitll functional. As a terminal client for
windows you can use SecureCRT, which I've found to be an excellent piece
of software (one of the two programs I wish i could run under linux).
There are a number of howtos on the subject of securing linux. I read a
good intro somewhere a couple of months ago called "The top 10 things to
loock down Linux" or similar. I think there was a link to it from
www.replay.com (wasn't that a security/encryption site???) which now
sends you to www.replaytv.com.
