I just found a problem that i would share with you all. When a ppp connection was re-established (in this case big pond direct) the /etc/resolv.conf was overwritten with the Telstra supplied DNS (via ppp negotiation). In effect disabling the caching DNS installed and telling the system to refer to Telstra's server for all DNS lookups. After fishing through the network-scripts I fouind I needed to add a line to the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 PEERDNS="no" It is documented in the /usr/doc/initscripts-4.63/sysconfig.txt I suspect this is only with an updated RedHat 6.1 (as there is an update for the init scripts) It happened on another site so now I know what to fix I can re-visit it. regards, Ian -- SLUG - Sydney Linux Users Group Mailing List - http://www.slug.org.au To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in the text
