I think there's some confusion here. BigPond Cable is a cable modem system
which appears like a 10Mbps Ethernet to your machine. The 100MB I talked
about was the traffic limit per month as part of the standard monthly fee.
BTW, I don't think BigPond Cable makes it to South Africa :-) It doesn't
reach large parts of our major capitals or regional areas.

There are quite a few Gigabit Ethernet cards and switches around these
days. Try searching for "Gigabit Ethernet" - I got results from
www.ht.com.au - NetGear cards are $713
Intel and (I think) 3Com also make cards.
It's still relatively expensive and you need to detremine whether you can
really pump that amount of data. 100Mbps full duplex is serious bandwidth
and a lot cheaper, especially when going into a switch with multi
Gigabytes of backplane capacity.

In a Gigabit Ethernet switch :-) From the same site a Cisco six port
switch is $4923
