This is curious to me because if what you say applies, remote means
not on this network. The Geneweb db daemon is running on my www server
and I normally access it from another machine on the same segment.

Since I am on the end of two permanent modem links, I thought this
might have been a factor, but reported errors were permission denied,
so I'm still head scratching.

This is what I thought was happening;

user browser <--->www.woa.com.au <---> geneweb daemon <---> geneweb
db.

Thanks, will get back to you if this is it and I decide to do
something. I might just be easier to generate general, weekly html
reports.
