I have an Abit BP6 running Redhat 6.0 Linux with dual celeron 400s. It runs
perfectly fine, many people have had trouble with the embedded ATA66
controller, however I don't use it as I have an Symbios 53c875 SCSI UW board
which I use instead. My machine has run totally stable I have never had it
crash or cause anything resembling a fault under linux. However Abit did
not build this board with server class duties in mind...it is a consumer
board. I personally would not use this board as a server or in any
application in which the load is likely to be high and continuous. Ananad
from www.anandtech.com did a review last year on the BP6 and his review
centered on this board being used in server conditions and his review was
less that enthusiastic about it as a server.

Great for a personal machine/toy though!. Fantastic as a Q3A machine.

Enjoy.

Hi,

I am thinking of putting together a PC with an Abit Dual processor BP6
motherboard with 2 Intel 500Mhz Celeron cpu and 256Mb ram.

Run Redhat 6.0 or 6.1 and then put Oracle 8i on it.

The questions are .

Has any one put together a linux server with an Abit BP6 motherboard with 2
Celeron processors?

If so how did it perform ?

any information is helpful.

thank you.
