Hi,
I want to run a slashdot-like web forum on one of my web sites,
and I'm having limited success (i.e. none whatsoever). Has anyone
here actually managed to get any of the various programs that do
this running?
Bits that I have tried include:
- Midgard (1.2.5 won't compile, previous version core dumps
when the LDAP functionality is added, since I have to have
LDAP for another PHP application on the same server, going
with Midgard and no LDAP isn't an option).
- slashdot, the code itself, which doesn't appear to work
with newer versions of mod_perl. I couldn't get it going,
anyway, it died with a cryptic perl error in a block of
code that I couldn't decipher.
- EdCom, installed OK but I don't appear to be able to log
in to it (any login appears to succeed, but going anywhere
from there sends me back to the login page).
I guess my next stop is Zope/Squishdot but it seems rather heavy
for what I need. Also, I don't know Python at all: would I need to
be a Python programmer to get Squishdot running?
Has anyone got any such program running or can offer advice?
