QOS is a wonderful buzzword which is actually attached to a useful
service.
It basically means you can allocate certain protocols/services guaranteed
bandwidth on your net link - for example, you can give ftp a guaranteed,
say, 15k of your 33k6 connection to the net if it needs it - while there's
an ftp session running, it gets that bandwidth, everything else has to
throttle down.
It began in ATM, but it's spreading to other things now.
