Ah yes... and each application hooks in and tells it what to say.
Thus, you'd have a system helper who can tell you about everything!
ARGH! What am I saying?!? You just know it's going to come up with
some quip like, "Are you sure you want to open gnome-term? You may
damage your system by using any shell utility."
I work at a cybercafe, and about a week ago I had a conversation
with a customer that went like this:
C: "Hi, can you tell me how to turn the paperclip on?"
J: "Sure, you just click on the X in the top corner and answer all
of it's questions with 'No'"
[ I really wanted to add: 'No comment', or alternatively, 'I don't
understand your meaning of the word 'browser'', but I don't think
they would have got the joke. ]
C: "Won't that turn off Word?"
J: "No, just the paperclip."
C: "So how do you turn *on* the paperclip?"
J: "Sorry?"
C: "The paperclip?"
J: "You want it on?"
C: "Yes."
J: "Oh - sorry! Far out, I thought you said 'off' - I don't think
anyone's ever asked me to turn it on before..."
C: "I wonder why? I mean, it's so helpful and funny. I've learned
more from the paperclip than I did from my Word book."
I'm assuming that the customer either tried to learn Word from the
four page "manual". I'm considering writing (I'm not much of a
cartoonist) a User Friendly style parody on running a cybercafe...
