In addition to the help people have given me with this problem i have attempted to rebuild the kernel on several occasions and when i attempt to boot it the graphical boot screen of caldera locks up...there is still some disk drive activity and it seems like its booting but the screen is just locked...i have left it for about half an hour and it remains locked yet when i hit ctrlaltdel it seems to shutdown.....any ideas on what might be happening at all??? im rebuilding the kernel to add in some sound support and stuff like that which doesnt come stock with openlinux 2.3...... thanks in advance!!! According to the documentation that came with the pc it is a "Souud Blaster Pro and Windows Sound System Compatible" device. Thats all good and well but how do i get the bastard to work? I have attempted to recompile the kernel to support microsoft sound system or whatever the module is in the kernel but every time i attempt to boot the newly compiled kernel the machine locks up so hard i have to power it down. Is there a specific way of recompiling the kernel in Caldera as opposed to RedHat which i was able to do successfully? Please Help!!!
