Dear SLUGgers, My /dev/modem, which was working beautifully with demand dialling, is working no more (at all). Below are the relevant lines of /var/log/messages on the day it happened (before and after - it now seems to die on 'chat'). These lines are from immediately after calling: /sbin/ifup ppp0 I swear I did nothing intentional to the system between when it worked okay and when it didn't. I also checked to see if the modem still worked by connecting to my ISP after rebooting into 'another operating system' and it worked okay. I'm at a loss as to what I should do - I got the modem up and running months ago with the help of the HOW-TO guides and haven't had any difficulties until now. I'd be grateful for some suggestions.
