My 2c's.
The most important thing you can give a person are education and
health. They'll find or make their own jobs. Whilst pimple head and
his mates are stuffing the country up now, I don't accept that Big Kim
and his loony tunes (jobs, job, jobs,,,) are going to be any betters.
If the country has a brain drain, this is not a bad thing. It
suppossedly indicates we produce surplus education (umm, do you think
pimple head thinks that?)
The brain drain results because out employment polies are still
structured in the pattern of providing infrastructure for big
companies. Witness the bidding wars that Virgin, Westpac and others
can run when they decide to set up a big call centre, national
headquarters, etc.

Okay, Macdonalds stated this - degree in hamburgarology (aka playing
with chemicals called foof). Do you boycott Maccs? Will you boycott
places that employ e-commerce graduates. Will you refuse to work with
them (better still - ask them for greater details on their specs for
the site).

Umm, greater economies than Oz's are choking on maintaining their
space industries and you think we can do it better. seriously, The 100
billion it would take to set this up has got to be better spent on
education, health, etc.
Both the USA and USSR industries were propped up by military spending,
i.e government supported. The Japanese is government funded and I
believe the French is the same. Can you see that happening here. We
are loosing enough in this state because of the Olympics. A government
sponsored space industry would stuff Australia all permanently.
BTW - if you really want to support an Ozzie space industry, you could
join Setiathome. Finding real live aliens would give a real boost to
OZ considering our southern hemisphere location.
