I can't answer that, Charlie.

I've had direct comparisons of the products I mentioned against Border
Manager. I've never done a direct comparison against Squid. I wish I had.

Speed is not Border manager's only advantage, although it's probably the
only one relavent here.

And, like it or not, Linux based products _aren't_ mainstream - yet.
They're getting that way, but they're not quite there yet.
