The other thing that is non-standard is the use of a login
program.  After you run the DHCP client you still cannot
send packets to the internet until you have run the login
authentication program.  Telstra supports only Windows
and Macintosh clients, although a Linux client has also
been written by some enterprising Big Pond customers.
