Tim,
It looks like a simple auth failure on your machines part. Having
hacked at pppd and 3 different distros to know the in-and-outs of both
pppd, diald and the distros themselves. Back on track, your problem is
fixed by either commenting out "auth" or replacing it with "noauth", which
will stop your machine asking your ISP for auth. The second option is
better, because i'm not 100% sure commenting out "auth" works. Hope this
