and for those really tricky ones where I'm sure it's possible
to remove using some wonderful combination of shell escapes etc
but I can't be bothered working it all out, I fire up a gui
file manager type tool, click on the offending file and select
delete (I haven't yet found a filename so weird that Sun's
openwindows filemanager can't delete it).
