firstly, get new X rpms, 3.3.5 or 3.3.6 (3.3.6 if possibly)
youll need to SVGA server and everything else
XF86Setup should do it fine, Xconfigurator wont

upgrade the rpms with rpm -hUv rpmname, if nesesary force it with the
--nodeps option

for gl, youll need to insmod the 3dfx driver
make sure you have the latest glide for v3 (Without dri) installed
and the relevant Mesa libs
(so youll want 2.6 and 3.2)

for most games youll need to set the environment variable
MESA_GL_FX=fullscreen, which will force stuff to fullscreen.
you _want_ this as 3d in a window is pitiful

any probs mail me, (ive got a 3500tv)

"I hear that if you play the NT 4.0 CD backwards, you get a satanic
message"
