Hi Everyone,
Well long time no see for a lot of you and never seen before for
even more Im sure. I've been out of the Linux loop for a while whilst I
finished off my HSC etc. I've now got that out of the way, YAY. Most of
you would remeber me as the founder of GTK.Themes.Org. I've since handed
that over to a good friend of mine Al Cousins (ovadose), and as my mailing
address now indicates, I am now employed by Cisco Systems, Inc.
I'm now trying to get back into the Linux loop and do somemore
developing. And I have been thinking of some talks I would like to give
sometime in the near future at SLUG (I did one of GTK and PHP3 a while
back). Here's an outline of one I've been thinking of... Im looking for a
show of interest here to see if its worth me throwing together the
material :
- Voice Over IP and Linux's role in VoIP
This is one I'd really like to give. Recently i have done alot of
training here at Cisco on IP Telephony in both Central Office / Trunk
situations and PABX situations.
This talk would cover an introduction to what VoIP is, and where
it can be applied. Moving onto an overview of the protocols used (theres
alot of them) and also where I see Linux could really play a big part in
the emerging technology of VoIP. Might also look at a case study of a
company using VoIP to show a practicle use and current caveats of the
systems.
Thought, comments etc all welcome.
It's good to be back.
