Nor me. I go to SLUG meetings because they're cool, and a chance to
chat with like-minded people. Not to attend a marketing seminar
from some fool who is too cheap to even organise his own location.
("if we can use one of the universities"??? -- our locations have
been provided by various student groups, companies and organisations
in order to promote the local Linux community, not to provide free
space for this sort of crap).

If they want to organise their own seminars and invite SLUG members
along, fine. This is what Informix did a while ago when they introduced
their Linux products. I went along, was happy (way back then) to see
a company taking Linux seriously, drank their free beer and chatted
to their people. At the end of the day it was just another marketing
schmooze-up, and we'll see more of them as more people start selling
commercial Linux products. I wouldn't want to give up my friday nights
for this sort of thing.

Conrad.
