hi
i have 2 problems ( that u guys may be able to help w/ anyway)

the 1st is
today i installed mandrake 7 i chose expert mode and after it had done all
the usual things instlling ,networking printers etc it asked if i would like
to set either and http and/or ftp proxy.
the question = is there a function/file etc that allows proxyeing of
everything w/o the program such as lynx knowing.. like everything sent to
***:80 would be forwarded to myproxy:8080 then forwarded on or is this just
another nt fully implemented tip bit???

the sencond is once i installed mandrake 7 i restarted etc and logged in as
root and left to have a shower when i got back there were thousends of
message fly across the screen saying

eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 8000
and every five of so it would add

: temporaly dissabling function
on the end of the first message...

i couldent do anything ctrl-C,D,X etc didnt work and i couldent change
consoles ctrl-f2 and numlock wouldent work which is interesting --maybe some
kind of hardware lockup /?????

i did a cold reboot (shudder) and everything seemed AOK

below is an extract from my /var/log/messages i think i got all the needed
info if there is more needed pls let me know...

thanks
alex

btw the eth0 NIC is a 3c900b tpo
