How many senior Linux Writers do you know in Australia? I can think of

The thing that concerns me here is that a "Junior" Linux person
with perhaps a year or two of experience in Linux, is going to
be writing articles that are being taken seriously by Australia's
IT community, and possibly being used as the basis for real
business decisions.

Does the name "Gareth Powell" smoke anyone's tyres?  :)
