For personal software progress tracking, nothings really out there for
linux (or maybe I've been ignorant in my searching techniques).
It's disappointing to realize that there is no decent software out there
for project management under linux. Admittedly the software development
process for developing software under linux, (...or opensource in general)
is much different to traditional, management intensive ways we are taught,
or are told to implement in a commercial software environment.
These charts are used to make user requirements visible, to all those
involved with the development. Where the requirements for a
linux/opensource piece of software, are gathered over the evolutionary
life cycle of the piece of software, and stored... well.. I'm not sure on
that point.
Where are the requirements stored in a opensource software project?
Traditional software methods focus on the development of a product, from
what I've seen, this product perspective is not quite as prevalent in the
opensource development life cycle. Am I correct in saying this? why is
this so?
The organization of groups in the opensource development life cycle, is
probably the most contradictory aspect, when compared to the traditional
project development approach. Would someone life to comment on this?
Think I might have to go have another look at Eric S. Raymond papers... Is
there anyone else who has written any papers on the opensource development
model? apart from microsofts halloween analysis... ;)
What about R. Thayer? he wrote a lot of stuff on the traditional software
project management method, what does he think about open source? has he
written any papers on it?

P.S. I'm doing a subject this semester on Software Project management, and
quality assurance. I need to do an interview with a real life software
engineering project manager. The person doesn't necessarily have to go by
this title, they just need to carry out the tasks of a project
manager/leader. If anyone is interested, or knows anyone who might be
