i had an uptime of 7 days, and when i tried connecting to my isp one night
i found that nothing really worked. sendmail wasn't relaying pop mail to
disk, telnet didn't work etc.
i later found out the next morning that ifconfig didn't have a local
loopback interface, and the default 127.0.0.0 route was missing. eth0 was
still up.
could this be a kernel problem ? and how do i prevent this from recurring;
because i know that there've been some cases where people mysteriously
lose their local loopback.
