I think a lot of you are over reacting and being somewhat hypocritical. Sure the bug's probably false - certainly without any evidence it is, but now that linux is getting more and more press you've got to expect bad press and bad journalism too. I don't think Dominique's article will win any awards - everyone makes mistakes while under pressure, and journos are under more pressure than most. I am also not a fan of Adam Todd. Having said that, it is amazing that the Linux community seem to have such double standards when "eating their own dog food", as the saying goes. When the media report Windows holes, most of which are so obscure as to be completely irrelevant, open source devotees applaud with much mirth and glee, and delight in the power of the media to damage reputations. Some of the community have even used the media to bash Microsoft on occasion. When these tactics are turned against them, as Mr Todd has done, lawsuits are threatened, apologies and retractions are demanded, ad hominem attacks abound, and the goodwill which the Linux community has garnered over the years seems rather hollow.
