I have modified the sendmail servers that I am responsible for with the suggestion found on the sendmail web site. I am also aware that this method shouldn't be an organisations only defence with this type of virus, but at least its a good temporary mesure to have in place. It works (well). As I am not a 'sendmail' guru, a few thoughts crossed by mind. 1. Could this be modified to reject on PARTIAL matches within the Subject field, i.e.: *JOKE* 2. Could it delve into the content of the message to weed out suspect mime/uuencode attachment names. i.e.: *.VBS or *.EXE 3. Could it be modified to allow key phrases to be included in a data base, along the lines of how access.db works, keeping in mind points 1 & 2. Unfortunately we live in a would were both Windows and Unix must co-exist. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
