PROBLEM IRDA port won't work with Palm Pilot Vx and Jpilot BACKGROUND Hi all. I've installed the pilot_utils.rpm and jpilot package and also IRDA. IRDA runs a daemon similar to the pcmcia card manager, called 'irmanager' that then kicks off 'irattach' (a generic driver for the IRDA hardware device). The rpm version of the package also creates these devices:- /dev/ircomm0 /dev/ircomm1 /dev/irlpt1 /dev/irlpt2? /dev/irda0 The source version does not do this and I couldn't find documentation on how to crate them using 'MAKEDEV'. Does anyone know? In my /var/log/messages file I get a message that irattach has successfully 'connected to the serial device' (no irq conflicts). The Network interface to IRDA 'irda0' if listed as up and assigned a MAC address when I do 'ifconfig -a'. ******Synchronizing using the palm's serial cradle and configuring jpilot to sync on '/dev/ttyS1' all worked fine. When I tell jpilot to use the new 'ircomm0 or ircomm1' devices, NOTHING HAPPENS?? Anyone have any experience with this please?
