I don't know much about diald even though I'm using it but you can filter
out certain packets which diald won't monitor. I would filter out icmp and
just keep pinging it every 30 seconds to keep the ISDN line up but diald
won't consider that as traffic when the idle time times out and drops the
connection..
no???yes??? Should work...

Subject: [SLUG] diald - Arrghh
Hi all.
I have a NetJet ISDN card.
trying to get diald to work.
Private network 192.168......
diald is just horrible.....
I have it working successfully in one configuration:
Forwarding & masquerading disabled.
Squid will trigger dial. It will drop after idle ok.
If I enable Masquerading (and forwarding), it triggers ok, but then the ISDN
closes on idle NOT diald.
because diald has not closed the IF, it does not re-setup the tap0 (and
default route to tap0)
So , after a cold boot, I get one trigger and dial ok, but not a second.
There is a readme for masquerading, but the problem seems to be the ISDN
card is dropping the line instead of diald.
Has anyone got a working config for diald & ISDN? or perhaps an alternative?
sincerely, Ian Ward
