Full agreement on that one. I have had a gutful of MS marketing droids
spewing out the "we set standards" lines. There ain't a more closed/proprietary
system on the planet than Windoze. And it ain't even inter-operable amongst
its own different flavours! Shite is shite.

On the Runtpage front... from a source whom I cannot remember now:
to respond to customer demand (created by MS, of course), they setup
a stand-alone little 486 running Apache and the Runtpage Exertions,
just to keep the whole bloody mess away from cleaner systems. Then
published a disclaimer regarding data security (remember, anyone else running
the Exertions can read *your* excel documents!) and let the thing
fly.
And ISPs beware of this .... from my own web page on MS's tactics:

re above: MS has had the gall to belittle ISPs who do not support
their Runtpage Exertions, by popping up dialogues suggesting the
wannabe web designed/guru switch to an ISP who does. What bile!
