Hi,
I've been asked to set up something similar to a web kiosk at my place
of work. What I've got is a machine running X and a special user that
automatically runs netscape when they log in. Netscape automagically
has the website to browse as the home/default page, it goes through a
squid proxy that only allows http from that machine to go to the
designated web page (so no pr0n surfing, etc).
The intended audience is the employees of the company, and they are not
well versed in the digital world. As such, I don't want to explain to
them how to restart the browser in the event of a crash/power failure.
What I need, then, is for an automatic login of this magic user when the
system comes up. Yes, I am aware that this is eery insecure.
If anyone has any ideas on that, or other methods of doing this, they'd
be greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah... it's much like the box near the front doors of the Tower
Building at UTS.

Heuristics are bug ridden by definition. If they didn't have bugs, then
they'd be algorithms.
