AUUG2K - "Enterprise Security/Enterprise Linux" Doesn't time move quickly when you're having fun (or extremely busy). This is the second mail out to AUUG members keeping them informed about preparations for the conference. In the last few weeks things have progressed well, we have a number of the keynotes locked in and have almost finalised arrangements for the others. One thing that did come out was the depth of talent that is available within Australia. In fact when we started casting about for names of people who are active in the Open Systems community, particularly in either security or Linux, we kept coming up with local people. To that end, the program committee decided that we would highlight some of those Australians who are making significant contributions by inviting them to be keynote speakers at the conference. This is not to say that there won't be some international presenters, but there will be less than in previous years. The keynotes we currently have are: Darren Reed, the author of IPFilter for various free Unix's and frequent contributor to a number of security lists; John Terpstra a long time member of AUUG, member of the Samba team and now working in the USA for TurboLinux; and Dirk Hohndel, CTO for SuSE Linux AG and Vice-president of The XFree86 Project (I've included his bio below). Along with organising the keynote speakers, the program committee has also been keeping track of the submitted papers. These have been coming in steadily for the past few weeks, and with the close of the CFP next week, the rate is building up. At the moment there are a number of interesting proposals for tutorials and conference papers, and I hope this will continue. Like the program committee, the conference committee has been busy. In particular they have been organising the budget and logistics for the whole conference. The two major items that have been taking most of their time are the arrangements of sponsorships, and of accommodation for the conference attendees. Details of the available accommodation are given below. With regard to sponsorships, I believe that all the major ones are gone, but there are still opportunities in a number of the smaller ones.
