The other side of the whole argument is that no matter what conversation we
participate in noise is all around us. Its a skill you develop to filter out
the noise. Its a very subjective skill too. - Hell I might even find
someone's signature to be even more valuable than their post :/
I suppose my original idea was that the list was only for people who have
prob/soln pairs that get resolved quickly and then they feel they want to
say thankyou and post the prob/soln to the second list. I'm not sure how
compiling things into a magic web based archive would solve things, as the
noise will only increase if people move away from the list and rely on the
archive.
The other way to increase the ratio  is increase the signal part... that
means leadership i spose... :)

just some more thoughts.
