I am from PLUG on the opposite side of the desert :) I am
contacting you as I thought you (or another SLUGer) might be able to help
out or point in a better direction.
A James McGrath ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ,maybe close proximity to you? ) is
doing some sort of exhibition at the Museum of Sydney regarding tidal stuff,
I became aware of this as he was looking for solutions as to how to present
tide information on LCD displays (small ones) and I happen to have a few
displays I could donate and have written some code for LCDproc so I thought
I could help out.

If I was to organize sending some equipment (displays, cables?) would
someone over there be able to assist in setting up a Linux box to talk to
them? I do not believe he has any *nix ability and I thought it might be a
good opportunity for some advocacy.
The exhibition starts Aug 5. which hopefully is enough time to get some
software together to do the job (he is getting some form of real-time serial
data piped to him, am waiting on its format), but is probably not enough
time for me to assist him from here.
If you could forward this onto SLUG's list if you feel appropriate maybe
someone will give this guy a hand.
