Thats where I got all my cables, wall plates, etc. I got a box of Cat5,
you can always find a use for it. If the plates take a snap in block with
one of those terminals you see on the back of patch pannels, make sure you
buy a punch down tool. I got mine from Jaycar, it was less than $10 and is
a stripper as well. Its very difficult to wire without one, I know 'cause
I tried. You might also want to get a crimper as well, although premade
cables are reasonable.
I wired my extension and other places in the house were we were doing
work. I still want to get a wireless kit so I can sit on the lounge
without any cables. But it is great to have Cat5 where ever you want it.
Be sure to run a DHCP server, its great to be able to "plug-n-go" (tm).
