Hi, I've been playing around with various MTA, just for the fun of it mainly, with my Linux box here. I've managed to get fetchmail working to pick up mail from a pop server and put it in /var/spool/mail, which can then be accessed by any mail client on my system. My problem is that I can't seem to get any local program to successfully spool and deliver mail. What I want is for postfix (sendmail's config file scared me :-) to accept mail and then send it to my ISP's (read uni's) smtp server to be delivered. Looking at my log files, I keep getting an error message saying 'Sender domain must exist' - it's trying to use the name I've given my machine for my local home network, which doesn't exist anywhere else. So how do I go about setting the domain name to what it expects? It also appears to be using my local user name, which doesn't match up to what the smtp server wants - is it possible to change this somewhere? I've followed the instructions given by the author of postfix, but they're not really suited to my situation. I guess what I'm asking is does anybody know of doco's that'll help me set up my machine to use postfix over a dialup connection?
