I've been slowly moving from Pine over to Mutt. If you are using a text MUA
(Mail User Agent) I'd recommend it. Mutt is far faster, for one thing, than
Pine

Ah, sounds like you've discovered that rsync should have a directory
cache so that even if the file changes name, as I understand occurs
with the Maildir format, only a rename is done.

It can't be too hard to do directory caching in rsync; Andrew did say it
was on his todo list (like a lot of other things). I'm sure he'd appreciate
a patch to do it.
