Yup, it's pretty straightforward and takes care of reflections too.
The only drawback is they need a picture without the laser point _for
every picture_ in which the laser point is to be detected.
One solution is to pulse the laser beam and send the sync info to the
Image processing platform.
Do you know of any webcam-type digital camera that does video on Linux?
(no capture card; Parallel port or even alpha USB support).
