find your self a shell acount - www.hobbiton.org / www.freeshell.org
if you don't have one.

telnet my.mail.server 25

HELO hobbiton.org
MAIL FROM: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RCPT TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 
DATA
this is some test data
 .
---
the a.n.other.domain obv. shouldn't be yours ;-)
if you can't relay, the mailserver will either tell you there
and then, or bounce the email back to the from address saying
"sorry, cannot relay"
