It is failing before the OS.  Here is an example.

Setup the RAID array

Boot to a M$ FDD

Setup FDISK

Reboot

Boot to a M$ FDD

Format C:

Copy a few files to C:

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! 

Reboot, Enter the RAID BIOS.

"Drive ID1 FAILED!"
