You can do a "dpkg -l postgresql", which will give you the package version
(which is entirely correct anyway), or "psql -V" to get it straight from the
postgres console client.

Your problem looked like spewage from an overnight vacuum. There may be an
updated postgres package for potato if you'd like to try it, I'm not sure.

[ What you *really* ought to do (if you're into postgres), is change your
deb-src lines to point to unstable and "apt-get source postgresql". Then you
can rebuild the packages for your potato system. Version 7 is *sooo* much
faster, but I'm keenly waiting for 7.1 -> OUTER JOINS (and other funky
stuff)! Okay, so it's not much to get excited about, but if you've ever
written some dirty UNION hackage to emulate outer joins, you'll know why I'm
a happy man. Now, back to the devil that is PHP... *sigh* ]
