Broadcast 2000 for Linux.  I've seen it.  It's stable and reliable.

a Hauppage WinTV card is recommended for Linux.  Works well on a
500MHz PC with 128Mb of RAM.  Produces huge files.  JPEG format with
16% compression produces 16Mb per minute.  Could be more dependant on
what kind of resolution you want.

Probably good for video or webcam ?
