I could see the packets coming in, but not going out, because I was
looking on the internet side of the firewall, so of course, the filter
didn't pick them up.

Yep, it was the gnome weather thing. Even when explaining to the CFO and
explaining that NOAA was something to do with the US weather service, I
didn't think about the little gnome panel sun & temperature thing.

Never assume malicice when stupidity can explain it {:-).
