I now casually allocate arrays larger than the physical memory my first
computer owned. And now there's serious discussion about saving a few ms
on an operation you'd perform once every couple of years??

Hey, here's a command for you:
  rm -rf ~

Not only will it remove the files you wanted. it'll remove some others
you forgot about as well.
