Hi Sluggers, Not wanting to start a religious war here as to why I would do it, but I want to play around with Gnome on a box here. The problem being KDE is currently installed on the box.
No problem - just remove all the KDE packages. I think that I have removed all the KDE stuff - but when I try to install Gnome: --------- playbox:~# apt-get install task-ximian-gnome Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies: task-ximian-gnome: Depends: task-ximian-core but it is not going to be installed E: Sorry, broken packages --------- If I try to install task-ximian-core, it fails because of dependencies on package called 'gmc'. If I try to install that, it fails because of dependencies on packages that start with libdb2. I feel like there is a vital step I am missing here. Clues anyone?
