It makes no difference to the security of your machine what sort of
connection you have; but there are issues with IP address stealing at some
cable providers.  IIRC the way some providers are set up you can steal the
IP addresses of machines on the same subnet as you if you have the right
tools(software).  So; it's not going to make an obvious difference in terms
of securing your box, but in terms of connection robustness and reliability
it might.

DSL may have the same issues; I don't know...
