So far, the system has been fine since we dropped the screen resolution
from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024.  This is looking like the culprit, since
this RH errata notice:

Anyway, I applied the update this morning, and now we'll do some
testing with the system running back in 1600x1200 mode and see what
happens.
